Sunday September 9 - Little Current to Horseshoe Bay

From Evernote:

Sunday September 9 - Little Current to Horseshoe Bay

We arrived in Little Current Saturday afternoon after driving through torrential rain on the way to Tobermory and then having the sun come out after we go tin line for the Chi Cheemuan to Manatoulin Island.  We found the boat, (Thalia a Beneteau 32) more by good luck than anything else docked on the breakwater behind Discovery Yacht Charters.  It's hard to believe we are only going for a week with the amount of stuff we loaded on board.  We asked if the Edgewater Inn, right beside the boat, was any good and were told that it was under new management and probably the best place eat on the island.  They were right.  The food was awesome, thats about all I can say!  I'd actually drive from Toronto just to have dinner there again.

Sunday morning we got to re-live the ritual of walking down the dock to use the facilities and have a shower.  We left about 9:30 and slowly motored to the swing bridge in Little Current and waited for it to open at 10:00 so we could transit east towards Frasier Bay.  There was a Catalina 44 waiting as well.  Once through the bridge, we unfurled the main, hauled out the headsail and took off at 6.5 to 7 knots on a reach.  The Catalina was quickly passed and left behind and we sailed on port tack all the way, alternating between close hauled and a reach.  Sped was anywhere from 4-7 knots and we had a blast.  We were anchor down by 1:00 PM.   The only downside to the day was that when we were cooking dinner, the propane ran out, and no spare tank, oh well, off to Killarny tomorrow to get gas.

Our first evening at anchor in over 2 years!
