Tuesday September 11 - The Pool

From Evernote:

Tuesday September 11 - The Pool

Hot coffee, fresh baked scones, a great way to start the day. especially if you are in a calm anchorage, with a light mist on the water.  What can I say, paradise!  I Took a short row around the bottom of the pool and talked to the people on Georgia Girl, the yacht that was anchored here when we arrived Monday.  Nice couple, with a quarter share in  the boat.  It's from Wisconsin and they were from Kansas City.   We packed a lunch and took a walk up to Topaz Lake.  There was a couple of small fishing boats tied up to the docks and the guys on board just lazing around catching some sun on the dock.  The hike up was great and when we got there no one was around up there so I took a little dip and air dried while we sat and just absorbed the scenery.  The geography up here is stark.  A lot of granite and quartz outcroppings and trees clinging the rocks.

Back to Thalia after lunch and a lazy afternoon.  Went for a bit of a fish, no luck, but did teach Cathy how to cast.  Dinner soon, pizza I think and then off west tomorrow past Little Current and who knows where

Monday September 10 - Frasier Bay to the Pool via Killarney

Monday September 10 - Frasier Bay to the Pool via Killarney

Anchor up at 07:45 and underway, no coffee, cold breaakfast, but a glorious day, if a bit cool. We got to Killarney under motor by around 09:30 and found out there was actually another gas bottle on board.  The charter guy neglected to mention this amusing fact.  Not all good however, when I connected it up and turn the valave, it leaked around the tank fitting.  A couple of phone calls to the charter company, and they said they would run out a new tank when we cleared Landsdown Channel en-rout to Baie Fine and the Pool.   Good to his word, Chirs found us and the problem was solved.  Someone had over cranked the fitting on the spare tank and damaged the seal, a common occurance it seems on charter boats, especially ones designed to use 5 lb tanks.  There was no wind so we motored into Baie Fine and made our way to the narrow entrance that leads to the Pool.  It is narrow but we had the sun behind us and could easily see the rocks in the channel.  We stayed a littel off centre and never saw less than 9 ft on the depth.  When we got the Pool, the cottages were empty, and there was one boat anchored right down at the bottom around the corner.  We stopped at the bottom and anchored at 15:45 in 8.5 ft. of water.  One other boat came in later but stayed well clear.  It is VERY peaceful. We will stay 2 nights here and unwind on Tuesday.
