Boat in a Shed - Part 2 (and out of the shed!)

During the first week of January, it was time to take a hard look at what still had to be done to get the decks and other work finished on Cygnet and make sure she was ready to go back in the water before the end of January.  We were confined by the end of our condo booking with AirBnB and we wanted to get all the boat stuff out of the temporary storage locker we've been renting since October.  We put together a plan with Blackline Marine to move the boat out of the shed by January 24th, get it rigged, and back in the water.  Matt, Brent, Paul, Owen and a cast of others made sure this happened.

This what she looked like on January 23rd.  Other than the missing anchor locker lid, which was also being re-worked, Cygnet was ready to go!

One other aspect of this whole project was to engage a marine surveyor to perform a full out of water survey required for insurance this year.  The surveyor did a thorough survey of the hull and decks, including the thru-hulls and skin fittings and all was good, almost!   Unfortunately he told us that 2 of the thru-hulls had to be replaced before the boat went back in the water.  Once again, Blackline Marine to the rescue and they got the job done and we were back in the water Friday morning.   We stayed at their docks over the weekend so we could easily get our stuff moved out of storage and back on the boat.  We got back to our marina Monday morning and we were both thrilled to be home.

As we worked though the week putting the boat back together and unpacking, we unfortunately found a leak. We ended up back at Blackline's docks the following week for day and night while they took care of it.  All in all a great experience, the boat looks amazing, and we're confident that she'll continue for many years.

Fair winds all,
Brian and Cathy
